Fargesia robusta 'Wolong'

Price: $29.99

F. r. 'Wolong' is one of two mountain clumping bamboos that appears to be heat tolerant enough to grow in the warm humid southeastern part of the US, the other being F. rufa. It has larger, darker green leaves and is more vigorous. The leaves are much larger than F. rufa and resemble Ph. bambusoides leaves. This bamboo does grow rather slow for us but will get much larger than F. rufa.

This bamboo is rated for 0°F but will more than likely handle colder temperatures. It should be a well suited clumping bamboo alternative for USDA Hardiness Zones 6 and 7 in the southeast, which is too cold for warm temperate clumpers and too hot for most mountain bamboos.

An attractive form of F. robusta that was collected in Wolong, Sichuan province in China. Rare in the US.
