Chimonobambusa
Genus of medium size running bamboos that throws it's shoots in the fall and winter. These plants generally enjoy damp conditions, some shade and good humidity. This is the only genus in cultivation that has leptomorph rhizomes and normally shoots in the late summer or autumn. They have prominent nodes and have more than one branch per node. Branches develop in the spring and dormant air roots are often found on the lower nodes. The culms are circular in section or have a tendency to be 4 sided.
