Widely used as a garden ornamental, this bamboo usually has one branch per node with large leaves at the top of the tall arborescent culm. It is grown as a backdrop, hedge or windbreak. It is tolerant of winds and salt air. This bamboo will provide a lush tropical look to the garden with its rich green large leaves. It is also planted along river banks for stabilization and can take being periodically submerged. its culms were used as arrows because of its light weight and strong quality thick walled wood. Makes excellent garden stakes.
