Phyllostachys parvifolia

A large upright species with small leaves that are deep green. The culms are deep green which later turn a paler green color.

It is a stately bamboo with well spaced culms that will reach large proporations in cold climates.

It is a tmber bamboo on par with Ph. vivax for both size and cold tolerance. Slow spreading in cool climates.

The shoots are used as a vegetable and the culms are used as tools.

Orginates in Anhui China, cultivated in Zhejiang.

Very rare in the US.

Plants arrived in excellent condition. They took off by the second summer and after that seemed to be able to spread out and shoot better than any of
my other varieties. This past winter in Western Michigan the temperatures went as low as -18 degrees Fahrenheit and these plants had leaf burn above
snow level but only the tips of the thinest culms died. Lots of new shoots and new leaves on old culms this May/June. Overall a very impressive and
beautiful bamboo, especially for such a difficult climate. I am anxious to see how they size up in the next few years!
